Joint Pain Therapies

If you suffer from chronic joint pain in your knees, shoulders, or other joints, you may have explored traditional treatments like rest, ice, pain medication, or even surgery. Our holistic approach provides patients with alternatives to prescription drugs or surgery with little to no downtime.

How does it work?

What is PRP and How Does it Work?

Platelet-rich plasma (PRP) is a concentrated source of platelets and growth factors that are derived from your own blood. To develop a PRP preparation, a small sample of your blood is taken and placed into a centrifuge. This device spins the blood rapidly to separate out the platelet-rich plasma. The concentrated platelets contain high levels of growth factors and other healing proteins that can stimulate tissue repair and regeneration.

The PRP preparation is then injected directly into the damaged ligaments, tendons, muscles or joints. The injection introduces a high concentration of healing growth factors right where they are needed most to mend tears or damaged tissue. PRP supports the natural healing cascade and significantly speeds up recovery time compared to rest alone. Patients typically start feeling relief within a few weeks.

What is Shockwave Therapy and How Does it Heal?

Extracorporeal shockwave therapy uses high energy soundwaves to treat injured or painful joints and tissues. A device is used to direct focused shockwaves toward the affected area, like the shoulder or knee. When penetrating deep into the tissue, the shockwaves trigger a healing response. New blood vessels form to improve circulation and the body’s own stem cells are activated to repair damage. Anti-inflammatory molecules are also produced to ease pain.

Treatments feel like a series of tiny percussions on the skin. No anesthesia is required because it is not generally painful. Relief often starts setting in after a few sessions and continues to improve over the next several months. Consistent shockwave treatment can have long-lasting effects for many chronic inflammatory and degenerative conditions.
